Qatar Airways is so much cheaper while being soooooo much nicer -- as is Emirates and Etihad -- because their governments pump billions of dollars into the "businesses" to keep them afloat. So they don't have to worry about that pesky "profit" thing or "supply and demand" or even breaking even. They can spend as much as they want on luxury and know their government will fork over another billion dollars to make up for it.

Only problem is that -- per the terms of the treaty that allows them (and airplanes from any other country) to fly into the United States -- no such government stipends are allowed. They're clearly flouting the terms of the treaty and our government isn't doing a thing about it. So, rather, these airlines are trying to run off routes from other airlines by undercutting them illegally. Every route that United or Delta or American drops because of this means 1,500 lost American jobs.

To put it in Hokie-related terms ... these three airlines are bigger cheaterers than UNC.
