Our own Russian Hokie was still a citizen of the Soviet Union then.


We've talked about that hockey game a few times at tailgates. He said throughout the Soviet Union, everyone was stunned at the outcome. They assumed, like the rest of the world and most Americans, that the Red Army team would prevail. It's what they did. Until they didn't.
