I really like LL Bean clothing too, for the same reason.

Everything seems to be really well made. I have a lot of Land's End clothing which is nice, but it doesn't seem to be quite as durable. Duluth Clothing Co. also sells very durable products. Recently purchased my first two articles of clothing from them, and it won't be my last.

As for North Face being expensive...I haven't seen it. Don't think I've ever purchased any clothing at full retail price, and have found North Face being as inexpensive as Columbia. Felt Columbia used to be more for show than durability, they seem to be producing better quality clothing today. Mountain Hardware, Marmot, Ex Officio... all seem to be making decent clothing for the price.

Don't think I've ever owned a piece of Patagonia clothing. I've never found that on sale at a price I'm willing to spend... Good stuff, but definitely pricey.
