Sounds cool. Are you able to make pit stops? i.e. get off train someplace,


then pick up the next train a day or two later? I don't imagine the train stops in any town long enough for you to get out and walk around town at all.

See if you can find the actual schedule history; i.e. how close to schedule does it run. Seeing Glacier won't be as interesting at 1AM. I think most Amtrak trains run on freight tracks, and have lower priority than freight traffic (may have to sit on a siding for a few hours to let freight traffic go thru).

When I've looked into train service between Austin and the DC area, seems like it takes two days each way (with a long layover in Chicago), and it's not any cheaper than airfare.
