In the early 1980s....the answer to the WWE question is no.


These guys were all independent contractors for the most part. They'd have somebody in the back to stitch 'em up if they got busted open...but they didn't get a lot of "company" care other than that...in fact most of that has just occurred in probably the last 15 years. He probably did take pain killers as well...or maybe he just preferred alcohol. He had surgery on his back so he obviously had other access to healthcare.
