That is sad and disappointing. It would be nice to see them renovate &
repurpose its use. It does have that history but if there is anything to be said about replacement it is likely due to overall cost, needs. And it is a more "contemporary" facility that doesn't have the architectural integrity of the lawn and many other contemporary buildings I have seen and been in at UVA that do have the "classic Virginia/Williamsburg colonial look" and feel. But as an alumnus of UVA I can feel your pain. No different than Hokies love for neo-gothic Hokie stone clad buildings. Most alumns abhor some of the mistakes that had taken place especially in the 60's and early 70's where buildings weren't required to contain the architectural theme. And not likely anyone would tout replacing a classic and first building that is Lane Hall. If anything VT has gone to great lengths to renovate, give new life and make it a focal point. While nothing is perfect and in spite of the state of Virginia all Virginia campuses and building are better kept and maintained than many other places I have been. Whether or not you like the architecture. Go inside a building or look closely at Chapel Hole campus and you would see what I mean
