Q for those who have lost a fair amount of weight


How fast (or slow) did you lose the weight?

Pound number 20 came off this morning for me. My plan was to lose 1-2# a week, but so far it has been more like 2-3# a week.

On the one hand, I like the results. That would put me right at my goal in 4-5 weeks instead of at the end of the summer. But I'm actually a bit concerned that is too fast for "healthy" weight loss.

I'm basically just using a calorie tracking app. It is telling me to eat about 2150 calories a day to lose 1# a week. I'm finding it isn't really that hard to come in at 1600-1800 day. Heck, some days I've found myself at 1400 around bedtime and will just drink a big glass of milk to get me to at least 1600.

I know if you fall below 1200 or so, your body will completely change it's metabolism because it assumes that food must be scarce for you to eat so little. I definitely don't want to go that low. I'd like to get to my target weight, go to a 2500 calorie/day diet, and not gain any of it back.

Am I running the risk of screwing up my metabolism, or should I still be OK?

Why ask a doctor or dietician when I can just ask the Lounge, right?
