Who's they? Is it advanced 7th grade math, or Algebra 1?

My kid took Algebra this year as a 7th grader. Getting an A is important because that grade actually follows him in to high school. For kids that have dreams of academic scholarships, service academies, etc., you better get an A in Algebra...lol...

I've heard of parents having their kids middle school grades expunged, and making the kid take Algebra again in high school for that reason.
