so have the first guy go three innings and then a second starter go three innings and then turn it over to the bullpen. Pitchers would almost never make it through the full lineup more than twice and statistics show that the third time through the lineup scores the most runs. Also allows guys to throw much harder because they know they will only be throwing about 50 pitches. This is pretty common in the lower levels of the minors.

The only way you can do this is if you have 8 or 9 starters that you trust and it also helps if you have guys that are out of options. Definitely an interesting concept.
