Agree that the news is overboard, BUT...people die when dams break.


This is classified as a high hazard dam, meaning deaths are LIKELY if the dam breaks.

The actual event itself is nothing to laugh at. I understand that you're weren't condemning the authorities, just the reporters, but this is serious stuff. There is 10 vertical feet of water behind that dam not including the normal water level. You do not want to be downstream and see what happens.

There's nothing like seeing clothes twenty five feet up a tree stuck in the limbs (Camille 1969) and imagining that much water across an entire valley.
