The tax write off is overrated because you're spending in interest


very close to what you're saving in taxes. At least for most of your mortgage's life. I asked my tax guy the question of paying off your house early recently and he responded, "doesn't matter, just depends on what you want to do with that money."

The biggest thing someone can watch is their withholding. That huge refund every year is a tax free loan to your government.
