I think it's reasonable to have a conversation with him and the parents.

The parents should definitely know your views on the subject. Just say that you don't allow your children around guns and ask if they are always locked up and by what method. I always tried to ask that question when my little kids went over to a new friend's house to play. Not a big deal.."Oh, I hope you don't mind, but I have to ask because it's one of my neurotic parenting things...Do you have any guns in the house and if so are they locked up?"

I think it's good that your daughter is not allowed in the house but what if she sneaks in there? Or what if the other kid brings one outside to show everyone?

If the other kid is over at your house you should use the opportunity to chat with both kids together. Bring the conversation around guns and talk about safety and tell them they are never to touch them. They are not too young to hear a real horror story about a kid accidentally killing his little brother or friend in my opinion. Better safe than sorry.
