Interesting observations.

it took doctors and specialists over 2 years to indentify that a family member had indolent systemic Mastocytosis. The MDs with diplomas from MCV, Duke and UVa all struck out and were baffled. The WVU doctor figured it out and the family member is doing well because of him.

A few years back at my job, it took two engineers from WVU and VT to figure out a complicated phytoremediation problem at a landfill to manage a leachate control system where the GT, Tufts, Bucknell and JHU guys failed.

Lastly, I have a client who is way up on the totem pole in Fortune 500. I work for probably 100+ different folks in that company for various purposes. When I think of my favorite and most respected clients from there, 3 of them are Hokies, 3 Mountaineers, 2 Monarchs, 1 Keydet and 1 Ram.

Contrary to the point, I've had to clean up messes from employees from some of the higher ranked schools. Some are smart enough but fail at compiling construction documents or calculation packages together. Some just aren't sharp at all, but they feel entitled to a position based on their education. Those usually stay a year or 2 before joining the public sector.
