Update. After all that...they settled

Lawsuit. Chinese metal parts exporter suing a Taiwanese (grew up in Argentina) metal parts importer.

They were selling parts to one customer in Fort Worth, TX where they make rail cars.

They set up an LLC together in Plano, YX. No partnership agreements. Very limited paperwork. Only bank statements.

Only in business for 18 months with $4.9 million in sales. Lawsuit was for $2.8 million and legal fees ($220k).

I was the only juror leaning for defendant. We talked afterward.

1/2 the trial was using an interpreter to translate Mandarin.

Lots of spreadsheets, a few emails and QQ chat. (Chinese version of IMessage...I think)

I told the bailiff he was the only one we weren’t pissed off at.

Don’t know what they settled for. I did tell the plaintiffs lawyer he shouldn’t criticize people for how much they make on the same day he has to explain to us he’s charging $400/hour and his firm is billing $220k. During a cross he sarcastically told the defendant that paying himself $6000 for closing the books was “good work if you can get it”.

Now I’m on my way to Horseshoe Bay resort to try and salvage my wife’s bday weekend. She’s driving and like it does everyday in Dallas, it’s pouring rain!!
