Too much dead weight in your proposal.

Also, if the schools are going to form a NFL-like organization, then from a scheduling standpoint I am not sure if the schools should have the freedom to schedule games outside the new league and have flexibility with their OOC schedule. It would be like NFL teams scheduling games against CFL, USFL, or WLAF teams or the NBA scheduling regular season games against the ABA or CBA. One night thing about the NFL's and NBA's schedule is the do a good job rotating the out of division games so fans have an opportunity to see their team play all the other teams in the league at home. Would VT fans like to see Alabama, USC, Texas, Oklahoma, Michigan, Florida, Washington, or Tennessee play a regular season game in Lane Stadium?

From a monetary standpoint, I would think the new league would want to keep the money flowing within the league. So that would mean no more Utah vs. Utah State game, SEC vs. DI-FCS games, or any other P5 vs. G5 game you can imagine.
