$500 seems high to me if not qualified for more than entry level (inside)


My 2 cents -> start with something like $250 but also idea of giving him a heads-up makes sense to - say start charging rent July 1st.

Hard balance between making kids grow up and appreciate what they need to do vs coddling them too much. No easy course.

When I graduated from VT it took me ~9 months to get a job after graduation but I didn't pay rent but I was actively looking for a job too.
