Im Gen X (barely...born in '78), and while i have a decent amount of DIY

Skills, its nowhere close to my dad. I still call him all the time to help with stuff (mainly heat pump/AC problems, electrical, or car). I think the big thing is that he worked such a wide variety of jobs throughout his life that gave him experience. Ive bagged groceries, done landscaping, cooked food, coached basketball, and now been an elementary school teacher.....so thats the extent of what i feel comfortable doing. Besides, if my dad knows how to fix it....and hes able/willing....why not have him come and help out. I watch and help and learn a little. But he's got it down pat.
