I'm in no way disputing these findings per se


Just saying we put ourselves on a 20-30 year long low fat diet based on the findings of researchers...whose research was funded by the sugar industry.

And every day it seems like new research uncovers something bad that we used to think was good, or vice versa.

Science should be a search for truth. But when the truth changes every few years, it gets challenging to know what to believe.

I happen to agree that a diet consistent with the Mediterranean diet would be good for you. But I also expect a little more red meat, butter, bacon, and eggs and a little less whole grain would be fine as well, so long as you stuck with a basic diet of meat, vegetables, fruit, legumes, nuts, and whole grains while minimizing sugar/simple carbs and processed foods.

But in terms of obesity control/prevention, all of that pales to portion control. How fat you are is controlled FAR more by how much you eat than by what you eat.
