I've had them for years. This is the first year I've used glass. The


plastic ones leaked from time to time. So far, the glass has not leaked (3-4 months of use). Of course, generally speaking, the plastic feeders will be cheaper.

Make my own nectar: 4 parts water, 1 part sugar. Boil water and blend in the sugar, such that it is dissolving as you go.

I don't really know if red is an important color, but the ones that I have used all seem to have red "Flowers" with clear or colored reservoir.

Down here, I try to change the nectar every 3-4 days.
