And lying about it. Have found Juul-like devices 2x now in his room. He has claimed both times they belong to others, and that he doesn't do it. BS. The devices have a certain smell (to me it smells like graham crackers, from the flavor pod), and a couple of times he has smelled like that.

The worst part is, I think he is lying because he is addicted. This is a straight-A student who has taken nearly a semester of college classes and who is slated to go to a very good college next fall. Has a job, volunteers with kids. Plays two sports, varsity. He typically hasn't lied. But I think he can't admit it.

None of us have ever smoked. We have shared all the articles and medical info about vaping with our son. He knows the risks.

And in two months, he turns 18. In a year, he is off to college on his own. Cracking down and going all Sgt Hulka on him seems like a poor choice right now. He isn't 11.

Any thoughts on parenting this issue? Do we pull the, "well, you have to make good decisions, and if you don't, we don't want that crap in our house or cars." Do we get him an addiction counselor? We did order nicotine tests, and plan to surprise test him later this week, to end once and for all the "I don't do that" argument.

The whole thing is so disappointing. To make it to 17, and now this. Ugh. I should have just bought a duck.
