late May, I was calling my wife's friends and telling them to call her because she might not make it.

Yesterday, I was watching football on a beautiful summer day, and I could hear my wife's infectious giggles from the other room. I think of how close I was to losing that, and how petty a football game seems in comparison.

As Gershwin once wrote, "It's summertime, and the livin's easy...."
