grass is all that fertilizer you invested in (that hasn't washed away)

Mulch and leave the grass (idiotic to bag it and send it to the dump) Leaves are also pretty acidic so you would need to put down lime to counteract that. So if you're really into lawns - which I'm not - you might want to remove them all.
