We had a similar vote a few years ago in neighboring counties.

One (Henrico) voted for a food tax to help pay for education The other (Chesterfield) voted "no" for the same thing. Folks in Henrico said "why don't you support education?" and folks in Chesterfield responded that they could do it and just no waste so much money.

It was surprising how different the results were. I live in Chesterfield and work in Henrico, I now pay 5-6% more for the identical meal at lunch so I can pay for Henrico's education. Yippee!
