OU does not want to have to compete with SEC schools in football day in and day out because OU has trouble recruiting SEC-caliber linemen and because OU actually has cleaner hands nowadays than most SEC schools.

OU would jump at the chance to go to the Big Ten so long as it could maintain its relationship with Texas, but I'm not sure that will be possible . . . because I'm not sure Texas will ever want to align itself with mostly northern universities and its powerbrokers will hold a grudge against OU just like they did with A&M. So it comes down to whether OU would be willing to talk away from Texas for the stable dollars and prestige of the B1G and the opportunity to renew acquaintances with Nebraska.

The Pac 12 is not an option for OU unless Texas comes along, and Texas is not going to the Pac 12 because of travel. One thing the Big 12 schools have learned, or should have learned, from adding WVU is just how difficult travel across time zones can be for college athletes, particularly when returning after late night games.

I think Texas likes running its own show, and I think OU likes Texas (and its alumni base in Texas) more than it likes the idea of rubbing shoulders with B1G schools. And moreover, OU itself will never hold the power in another conference the way it does in the Big 12.
