How could this have happened?


What if, and this is strictly a what if, he didn’t start by snorting cocaine. What if he took an adderall for a test he was studying for because he may have failed and not been eligible. Or what if he was prescribed adderall for legitimate ADHD issues? And what if down the road, he crushed adderall instead of ingesting them because it worked better. And what if he couldn’t find or didn’t have any adderall and a friend offered I him coke instead. And what if he’s tried to stop but is truly addicted and can’t?

Is it so far fetched? That’s a pretty common way for college kids to slip into cocaine use, just like originally starting on prescription pain pills for a sports injury can fairly easily lead to heroine use. Not everyone can fight the addiction as well as others, especially when you’re genetically predisposed.

I never said it was ok, I merely said that he has a problem he needs help with. We don’t know how bad his problems are or how hard he’s tried to fight it. People are making assumptions that he’s a coke fiend. I prefer to wait to find out what really happened and give a young man who may one day represent our country on the wrestling mat the benefit of the doubt.

Is that so unreasonable?
