I'll disagree with you about the "precedent" set. I've been thinking that


there will be plenty of lessons learned from this experience that can be applied to the next one. The scientists will study the infection patterns and update their models. They will also be better prepared when an outbreak starts - they'll react faster and do a better job of identifying, tracking and containing it (including China) early, so it won't reach the point of shutting down everything.
