Yes. We got one after we lost power for 10 days after hurricane sandy

Mrs Devil did a bunch of research and we wound up with a hybrid (gas/propane) one since we learned from Sandy that if there are massive blackouts, gas pumps don't work. Plus propane doesn't go bad. Ours is enough to run both our fridges, charge batteries, keep our Internet up and run some lights.
