My kid is the only one who walks to all coaches after every game/practice to shake their hand and thank them for their time (paid or volunteer). Compliments from all teachers/coaches/parents, often telling me this one is the one they want to marry their daughter to. However, to contrast our experiences, I had to tell him at camps to fight for reps as the coaches don't run camps fairly and it is a dog eat dog (kid eat kid) world with kids jumping line and stealing reps to get noticed. "Follow the rules" kids are left behind at times and don't get to showcase their skills.

Freddy's point is valid BTW. This reminds me of when I took my son to a roller coaster. We measured for months and finally went when we were the right height. He was so excited. I went there and they measured him like 1/8th short (which wasn't right IMO) and he was sooo deflated. A guy that I ran into told me to take his socks off and ball them up in his heals. We did and rode roller coasters all day. I reflected over and over on what I taught or didn't teach that day.
