With high intensity workouts, downtime is essential.


Weightlifting and CrossFit-style workouts accumulate a lot of stress over time. Probably a lot of distance running too, but I don’t do that so wouldn’t know.
I’ve not taken time off in my younger days and it would result in injury, followed by prolonged off periods. Older and wiser I guess.
I’ve also dropped the number of workouts per week as I’ve gotten older. Do a 2 days on/1 day off/1 day on/1 day off schedule now, which is enough recovery time.
