I hope you're right...

The SEC and B1G have a head start. College football is almost a religion in the Deep South. Clemson is the closest SEC-type football school in the ACC. FSU used to be until their program hit some hard times. FSU seems to be trying to get away from the "football school" image. I'm sure winning and having perennial Top 5 teams would quickly change that but I honestly don't see that in the near future for FSU. I feel like Tech is also trying to get away from the "football school" image. It was talked about during yesterday's Toledo-Tech baseball game on ACCNX. The Big 10's big advantage is their 5.7 million living alumni and 540.000 students compared to the ACC's estimated 2.9 million living alumni and 340,000 students. It would be refreshing to see UNC, Duke, and Syracuse try to get away from their "basketball school" image.

The ACC needs to be the first Power 5 conference to take advantage of the next new phase in media technology. The ACC will likely have to take a gamble if they want to shrink the revenue gap. I believe that the SEC and B1G leaders are just as intelligent as the ACC's when running their conferences. I believe that all 5 commissioners in the Power 5 are closely watching each other. Jim Delany is retired and it appears that the B1G hasn't made any major improvements since he left. They watched the SEC and ACC play pretty much a full football schedule as they didn't start until late October when they could've started about the same time as the ACC or SEC. The B1G didn't take the gamble. I bet Delany would've started playing football in September. Jim Phillips has been somewhat quiet thus far. I read that he's visited all the ACC athletic departments.
