If automatic P5 bids are a big deal, then breaking up a conference is less
likely. Or, put another way, making a conference bigger makes it more difficult for an individual member of said conference to get an auto bid.
If they are throwing out the 12 number to get 8 in the end, I get it. The SEC wants multiple bids, and they will get it with 8 or 12. Notre Dame also gets what it wants with 8 or 12. Pac12 also gets what it wants with 8 or 12.
The ACC should be pushing for 12--if the status quo remains, multiple bids won't happen for the ACC at 8. It might not happen with 12 either, but I digress.
1. I am not a negotiator.
2. I am not an expansion expert, if there even is such a thing.
3. I'm just a Will Rogers: "all I know is what I read in the newspapers." I put two and two together afterward.
That being said, you seem to dismiss this as a smokescreen. Yet, several days ago, you posted a 2017 article as evidence that Texas to the ACC was a real possibility. Maybe you could share your wisdom with the board on which articles are gospel and which are red herrings.
