They do care about equal opportunities for sure.......so much of the Title
IX issue for college athletics is the appropriation of support and services.....While they normally don't look at the identical sports as a direct comparison, they can become dicey if schools are not careful. That is not normally an issue for the basketballs, the soccers, the tennis', the golfs, the tracks, etc., as they almost always have equal opportunity with support and services, and facilities. As long as tutoring, nutrition, per diem and stuff like that is equal, that is not normally a problem..
One of VT's biggest issues that we had to watch was the difference between baseball and softball. Most don't realize, that was one reason softball got the Jumbotron/VideoBoard before baseball for a while. When baseball had their indoor hitting facility (prior to the stadium expansion), there was nothing remotely comparable for softball. Obviously, their indoor is nice now, and has helped. Would imagine, VT will need to stay on top of softball over the next few years when Title IX evaluations occur.
