Is getting deeper and deeper with every new development. TV money is the big one causing this. I think NIL will be another and maybe one that will be what triggers a more positive palatable structure. The 12 team playoff will slow this, though, with its appearance of inclusivity but really it’s just supplying more lambs for slaughter. Better than 4 team playoff, though.

I secretly hope there becomes a split within D-1 where the elites congregate with basically no rules and the others have a true student-athlete foundation. The latter is where you get your rivalries, smaller conferences, tradition, and improved playing field. Imagine a 10 team league of VT, UVA, Maryland, WVU, Pitt, GT, and 3-4 NC schools. And I think NFL Lite in college would fold for any number of reasons resetting the new normal in college athletics.
