I've read about the transportation issue a couple of places

I was looking for something to link, but I don't see anything at the moment. I've read a lot over the years about College Football and the ACC.

Another interesting tidbit about UVA is that UVA spent the first half of the 20th century playing current members of the Ivy League especially Penn. The Ivy League formed about the same time as the ACC. UVA wanted to join with them when it formed, but the State of Virginia was segregated and the Ivy Schools wouldn't consider it further.

Back then there was a clear separation of Northern and Southern. In some ways it makes the current makeup of the ACC remarkable. We've moved past much of that.
