Maybe for this wave. But, I unfortunately don't think COVID is leaving.

We need health officials and leaders to start being honest with the public. We are not going to defeat COVID anytime soon and more variants will be coming. Regardless if the US is 100% vaccinated in all eligible ages.

The world is a big place and our existing vaccines are not designed to stop COVID, only lessen the chance of severe disease. And, with both Pfizer and Moderna execs calling for the 1st booster shots in the coming months (Israel is already underway as is San Francisco), the vaccines have a relative short term effectiveness as far as vaccines go and of course the new variants will continue to make things much trickier.
