Straight 8 with criteria where at-large teams can bump the worst ones out.

No set number of at-larges, just the worst ones get bumped if they fail to meet some minimal requirements, and at-larges still exist with significantly better resumes, like ranked 5 spots higher at least.

Plus no conference gets more than 2 teams in, and the second teams and independents get a much smaller payout, like 10%, to keep anyone conference or team from making tons more than everyone else off of the playoffs.
