That's just it though, I am not sure how "competitive" they would be in the

ACC. Historically, BC has been at least an average team with several years where they are either an above average or even great team. While historically Duke and Wake have been a below average team with once in a blue moon years where they were an above average or great team.

Now don't get me wrong, I do believe Cutcliffe and Clawson have done remarkable things at Duke and Wake. Likewise, I do think both programs are much better than how they are perceived nationally even if they are having a great season like what Wake is having this season. I just think the national audience doesn't really care how good (or bad) Duke and Wake are in football because they have already been painted a "basketball school." I suspect either team could go undefeated and be in contention for a Playoff spot and the national audience will conclude that the ACC is having a "down year" that year because Duke or Wake is its ACC Champion.

Unfortunately, I think UConn has been painted the same way. UConn could break Oklahoma's win streak in football (I think 48 games in a row) and people will still view UConn as being a "basketball school that is bad in football" or simply don't care what UConn has accomplished in football during that win streak. Heck UConn winning a national championship in football would probably be viewed in the same light as either BYU's national championship or GT's national championship.
