Then there's no point in sliding, so


I'm not sure how "if you don't want to be hit, slide first" makes any sense. Why would anyone bother to slide if they can be hit in the process. (I mean there are a few cases I guess...if you really wanted the clock to stop, or didn't want to risk a turnover...but to do it instead of trying to pick up the extra yards would no longer make sense when you're getting hit either way)
