yourself. I don’t have the exact guidance to give you but I would think 5 days from your first exposure would be a good start.

After that if you aren’t showing symptoms then you are most likely ok. At that point I would recommend getting a couple rapid home tests if you can and taking both. I realize they’re not 100% accurate but if for example both came back positive then you could pretty safely assume you were infected and act accordingly.

I would still wear a mask just to be safe (a N95 or KN95) at least around higher risk people and having them wear on too if they are willing and able would help as well.

There isn’t going to be a set in stone number that works for everyone. Someone could be exposed on Day 1 but not infected until Day 4 for whatever reason and then not start showing symptoms until Day 8 or 9. You do the best you can and it sounds like you are trying which is a lot more than some others can say.

I sympathize with you. I go through the same thought process whenever I go to see my 94 year old grandfather. He is vaccinated and got his booster but he is 94 and has COPD. My worst fear is that I end up with a mild or asymptomatic case and give it to him. I just try to do everything I can to be safe prior to visiting him. That means limiting who I’m around about 5-7 days out and not risking unnecessary exposure. For example I really wanted to see the new Spider-Man movie while I was off work over Christmas but with the new variant spreading everywhere and going to see my grandfather on Christmas Day I just decided that sitting in a theater with strangers for 2 hours was too risky even with a mask.

Not sure if any of that rambling helped but again good on you for looking out for others. I wish more people would do that.
