I think NIL was inevitable. In some ways so was the portal. The problem in many ways is the two combined.

Most of these bag man theories are just pure green eyed jealousy. Some coaches are better at recruiting than others, some are better at x/Os than others, some are better at running an organization than others. Saban happens to be better at all 3 (Meyer is too, he's just a flake). Dabo is a great recruiter, fairly good at the other 2, Smart, the same. Once the playoff made it about being one of the 4, it made it easier if you can do those 3 things because the sales pitch of if you don't come here, you have no shot became much more real.

Portal and NIL, with the playoff...forget it. National exposure and the money that goes with it, only gonna get worse now.
