Team USA is only competing in one tournament this year - World Games in Birmingham. They won’t even practice together I believe until a week before the tourney and then play the long weekend. It’s in July right after the WCWS. So no, the players won’t be missing any of their collegiate teams practices/games. And no it really doesn’t mean much to be on Team USA this year other than the Jersey - hence players like Chidester, Aguilar, Garcia etc chose not to play. While there is a new coach this year, there still are many problems with the selection process and really even the value of the team with one long weekend tournament.
