I believe it's due to some thinking that defying mandates and lockdowns can
best be countered by ignoring any positive thing we learned during mandates and lockdowns.
What are those positive things? Good question - for every new tenet there's ample social practice that thinks ignoring common sense and common courtesy is better than staying home. This isn't said to suggest those practices make sense or are realistic.
What have the mandates and lockdowns accomplished? Also a good question. You have only to see the open evidence of how hard those in control fight to stay in control while the ground crumbles under their feet and those policies failed over two years to control the virus' spread. Eighteen months ago the country was full of vaxx avoiders due to the occupant at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue; today the country is full of people who are vaxx avoiders due to the occupant at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
I imagine when those with extreme views of either ilk gather for whatever events they attend, it looks from the outside like the gang that can't shoot straight.
