Sick leave? I do know why I never took a sick day.

This, of course, was prior to Covid entered our lives. But it was due to the fact my company had absolutely no system to keep me from coming back to a complete cluster if I was out for several days unexpectedly.
Now, I luckily did not have to worry I might loose my job. Like many folks. But I knew what I'd be faced with if I called in sick for a few days. So I came in. Every day. For 38 years.
And that's the way it is for most folks.
The alterbnative is not not give a crap about your job. Or what a mess it creates for everyone else. We did have plenty of folks who felt that way. They called in sick on Fridays and Mondays. I just could never do that.

Until the employer Makes sick leave manageable, it will continue as is.
That's pretty unlikely. I suspect.
