This is about Branding

1. Hampton Vision is much broader and wants a more national branding. The evolution of Hampton From the CIAA to the MEAC to the Big South was huge for them. The Big South gave them more national prestige. HOWEVER, in the Commonwealth to play in the same league as WM and the other major East coast IAA schools was huge.

2. For Norfolk State, while they have the a larger alumni base, they do not have the $$$ to broaden their program. LIke like playing their peers, including Howard (lousy football), Winston Salem state, Fla A&M, etc. They will continue their rival games with Hampton.

3. For Hampton, this also one up's their other PRIME rival Howard. Howard and Hampton are two of the prominent HBCU schools in the country, (both have deep pockets). Howard and Hampton always needle each all their programs. Hampton joining the CAA, kinda up's Howard (again).
