It doesn't stink if ownership of what is really is is taken.


It is not the 60 or so best teams ranked based only on on court performance. It is not a compilation of computer nerd indexes. Is is really not anything close to pure intercollegiate competition.

It is more like Hokie Wrestling and the NCAA championships would be if they were run by Vince McMann, a media entertainment event, call it Basketball entertainment.

One intent, IMO, is to be sure they have nationally known teams all through the brackets so a fan in Idaho who doesn't know VT from UVA or Vermont, will still see a name she does know as at least pause on that game long enough to see an ad. And they are not interested in advertising lesser known teams.

Under that scenario, McChickin can do that better than any of the teams that got left out. It would be interesting to see the TV ratings of the games between the national name teams and where there is no national team.

Just an opinion but that is mine.

And I honestly believe that if Duke or UNC had the exact same record as us they would have been in without winning the tourney. Maybe even the now "old" name Syracuse or Louisville.
