My thought on this is morphing a bit. It is one thing


to say, "we the mighty are creating 4 conferences with exclusive access to a national title." It is another thing entirely to simply allow a Darwinian exercise to run it's course and leave the national title participation window cracked open as it is now.

The former is much more likely to draw political scrutiny, especially broad scrutiny, than the latter.

In the end, I don't think it is necessary to find a home for everyone in any conference that isn't viable. UVA's support for VT in the ACC wasn't a cause outside of Va. I think the same is true in the other states. Oklahoma may try to cover for OSU, but I doubt they would undermine their own situation by going out on a limb for ISU or WVU.
