Expansion is all about the future, not the past or present

The question is what can you do in the future - on many fronts? Conferences are partnerships - and if you're going to invite someone into your partnership, what are they going to bring to the table in he long run?

Nearly all of the schools in the so-called expansion question are likely to be a net negative as a future partner down the road. Just because a school is doing well by a couple of measures as a bigger fish in a smaller pond, it doesn't mean that translates to a bigger pond.
