Casteen was a super supporter of VT, as were some benefactors. My view of all this was over a period of 50 years, and I do not think UVA ever supported VT's desire to get in the ACC for the first 25 or so. They may have given it lip service, but no real action. Back in the day, their object was to absolutely rule the state educationally. T. Marshall Hahn changed their ability to do that. And, higher education in the Commonwealth is better for it. Virginia can be rightfully proud of the overall standing of excellence of its colleges and universities.
