That's why I say the ACC must get ND and TX on board
I think it's in the best interest for those schools (especially Ok and KU) to move to the ACC where they can be big fish in a small pond. I'm sure that if the SEC took OKST and KSU, legislation would not be an issue for a split. They could keep their rivalry games like the ACC/SEC has now.
There is also much more money on the table with a ND, TX, OK, KU joint move to the ACC with a network in progress. ESPN would be consolidating its largest assets while creating a balance of power. It's also a perfect move to throw in Delaney's face for trying to play ESPN.
ESPN would be willing to pay up for the ACC plus ND, TX, OK, KU because football would immediately upgrade and basketball would be untouchable. Baseball would improve in both leagues. And the ACC would be home to half of the US population.
All this while holding peace by keeping rivalry games in tact without the threat of litigation. ESPN can't afford for those big boys in the Big 12 to move to the SEC because it would cost too much and greatly diminish ESPN's only other true entity (the ACC). By creating a balance in power, ESPN wins and that's their only concern.
ESPN also can't afford to lose those schools to the Pac or B1G. That would be handing Fox the keys to the house.
I'm an economist, and no one ever listens to us, but if ESPN is truly trying to counter its losses, it's the best way to go. And ESPN has more say than the conferences involved (e.g. the ACC raiding the Big East's brand names).
