I don't know how you feel, but I think the Big XII is making a huge

mistake by not playing the rivalry games during the last 2 weeks of the regular season; the weekend before Thanksgiving Weekend and Thanksgiving Weekend. The Big XII has 4 natural pairings that it can use to help generate/maintain the buzz for the conference leading up to the CCG.

Texas-Texas Tech
TCU-Baylor
OU-Okla State
Kansas-Kansas State
Iowa State-WVU (the only unnatural pairing)

Since the Big XII's CCG is going to be a rematch of a regular season game, then I don't think it matters when the regular season game is played. Most people don't like for CCGs to be a rematch of a regular season game. However, they are more tolerate if the rematch is unplanned because there is still an element of unknown/unpredictability. Since the Big XII is playing a 9 game conference schedule, then everyone knows ahead of time that the CCG will be a planned rematch. They just don't know which pairing will play on Conference Championship Weekend. Even if the Big XII decides to do what the SWAC has done, divide up into 2 divisions of 5 and play a 9 game conference schedule, then I am not sure it will be enough for more people to take the CCG seriously (compared to the other CCGs going on that weekend).
